Alleged notorious motorcycle thief Wasiu Adebanji arrested in Ogun State
A 28-year-old alleged notorious snatcher of motorcycles, Wasiu Adebanji, has been caught while on operation with his colleagues identified as Opeyemi Olatoye and John Awoniyi in Ogun State.
However, Adebanji’s two accomplices were able to escape from the neighbourhood vigilante operatives who arrested them, according to a statement by the spokesperson of Ogun Police Command, SP Omolola Odutola.
The Police spokesperson revealed in the statement that preliminary investigations revealed that the three suspects are members of a well-organized syndicate specializing in motorcycle snatching since March 2023.
He added that two BAJAJ motorcycles, suspected to be stolen, were successfully recovered from the residence of the arrested suspect.
The Police spokerson said investigations are currently ongoing to apprehend the fleeing members of the syndicate.
“The Commissioner of Police, CP Alamutu Abiodun Mustapha, psc, while commending the bravery and swift action of the Volunteer Neighborhood Watch as well as the timely intervention of the Police patrol team, urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities for a safer and more secure environment for all.
“The suspects will face appropriate charges under the law upon conclusion of investigations,” the Ogun Police Command spokesperson concluded.
