MY FIRST DAY AT SCHOOL: KUMASI MAYOR VISITS SCHOOLS

The mayor of Kumasi Metropolitan assembly, Hon Samuel Pyne on Thursday January 12, 2023 toured some schools in the Metropolis as part of the Ghana Education Service’s program dubbed “My First Day At School”.

The day which is set aside to welcome and interact with school children and pupils who are beginning school to help generate and sustain their interest in education.

Hon Samuel Pyne was accompanied by the Metropolitan Director of Education, Mr David Oppong and other staff of the assembly.

The selected schools visited includes, St. Augustine Anglican primary & KG ,New Tafo Dichemso M/A Primary, St Hubert R/C Basic School ,
Bohyen Community Basic School, Atasomanso R/C primary.

Hon. Samuel Pyne used the visit to welcomed the little fresh pupils and entreated them to consider learning as the only tool to improving their literacy skills for their personal development as well as society and the nation at large.

He therefore advised them to listen and obey their parents and teachers for them to become good leaders tomorrow.

He urged the Youth of this country to desist from indulging in the use of abusive words and offensive languages to express their displeasure about situations.

He expressed worry about how some of the youth use impolite words and expressions on social media as means to inform authorities about their dissatisfaction which is contrary to the Ghanaian child upbringing.

Speaking to media in an interview, Hon Samuel Pyne, expressed satisfaction with pupils enrolment and attendance on the first day and encouraged parents to prioritize the education of their children.

The pupils were received exercise books, Kalipo pencils, erasers, sharpner etc from the Assembly.

On his part, the Metropolitan Director of Education, Mr.David Oppong appealed to parents to encourage their kids by supporting them with all their educational needs to augment the support providing by government.
