The Deputy Attorney-General, Alfred Tuah-Yeboah, has disclosed that the State has set processes in motion to extradite the former CEO of the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC), Sedina Christine Tamakloe Attionu, into the country to face the full rigour of the law.

The Financial and Economic Court 2 of the Accra High Court on Tuesday, April 16, convicted and sentenced Sedina Tamakloe to 10 years of imprisonment for causing financial loss to the state to the tune of GHS90 million.

Also, the Director of Operations, Daniel Axim, was handed a 5-year jail term.

Reacting to the ruling by the court, Deputy Attorney General Alfred Tuah-Yeboah indicated that the MASLOC CEO would be extradited.

“We’ve started the processes and with this judgement, that is going to speed up the process,” he said.

“In Ghana we have various clauses, you can choose to just stay but so far we have laws regulating how you can be extradited from one country to Ghana if there is a judgement like this one rest assured, you should be brought down and face justice,” he explained.

He emphasised that the final judgement given by the court would fast-track the extradition process, stressing that accused persons, in some cases, initiate an appeal process when being extradited to face trial.

“When it comes to extradition, sometimes you start and you have some kind of problems, or block; the person may choose to appeal, but this is the situation we have final judgement. It’s not as if you’re being brought here to be tried, where you can raise all the defense out there,” he stated.

Meanwhile, the prosecution was further directed to seize the assets of the convicts, especially the former MASLOC CEO, “as part of measures to recoup the funds.”,
