Police in Mzimba have arrested 19-year-old Benson Phiri for allegedly murdering his 16 year old wife in the area of Inkosi Chindi in the district.

Mzimba police spokesperson Peter Botha told the press that the suspect hit his wife on the head with hoe handle on Wednesday after a quarrel.
She died Thursday at Mzimba district hospital in the course of receiving treatment.
Botha said a Postmortem report from Mzimba District Hospital revealed that death was due to severe head injuries secondary to the assault.
