Koforidua: Assembly Member Distributes Free Uniforms To Pupils Ahead Of Reopening Of Schools

The Assembly member for Railway Electoral Area in New Juaben South Municipality in Eastern region, Hon. Daniel Joe Ahiale has distributed free school uniforms to about 200 selected pupils from poor homes in the electoral area prior to reopening of school.

The 200 beneficiaries attend school at Nsukwao MA primary, Nana Kwaku Boateng Primary school, Sarkodie A ,B and C , and New Juaben Primary school.

Speaking to the media after the donation, the assembly member Hon. Daniel Joe Ahiale noted that majority of the primary school pupil in the electoral area are staying with people either than their biological parents hence engage hawking before they are able to earn income to buy their learning material as well as school uniforms.

The Assembly member bemoaned that despite basic education being free in addition to school feeding program, attendance is not encouraging due to myriad of challenges in the education sector.

Therefore, his intervention to support such underprivileged children in his electoral area every academic year.

He said “I distribute learning materials to school children in my electoral area every academic year. This has been my aim over the past years so these children are able to rise and achieve their objectives in education. Sometimes I get worried when I see the kind of dresses some of them use to attend school, I believe there are more blessings in giving and as the years go by I am hoping to distribute learning materials or school uniforms to over 2,000 children within New Juaben South Municipality”.

The Assembly Member continued that, “there are a lot of challenges here , about 90% of the students do not stay with their parents , sometimes I go to these schools and give some of them chop money because apart from the school feeding which is their last hope and sources of their daily meals they struggle to get additional meals after school , you will realize that such children do not have school uniforms and learning materials so it is important for us to support them with the little we have” he said.

The Assembly member appealed NGOs and philanthropist to come to the aid of the school children in the Railway Electoral Area.

The beneficiary pupils were excited about the gesture of the assembly member stating that most of them use to wear tarted uniforms to school.
