Police in Kisii are holding a middle-aged man on claims of defiling five of his daughters.

Sub-County Police boss Amos Ambasa said the man who trades as a mason was rescued on Tuesday from an angry mob who were baying for his blood outside his house in Jogoo, Kitutu Chache South before he was driven to Kisii Central Police Station.

He was suspected of engaging in the vice for years before villagers took action.

The news of beastly exploits surfaced Sunday when three of young younger girls who had sought shelter at their aunt’s home refused to return after he came to pick them up.

They instead accused him of molesting them as they sleep.

The girl said her father had been abusing her and other young siblings soon after burying their mother a month ago.

The eldest sister told journalists the father had been defiling her since she was in class five.

She narrated how he one day stormed into their bedroom and threatened her with a knife before he repeatedly defiled her.

Later, he was set free by police in Nyanchwa after his brothers threatened the mother and asked her to drop the charges or move out of the marriage, the daughter told the Star.

The children’s aunt said the man used to tell the girl to seek exits from high school to defile her at home when the mother went for errands.

Villagers said the man had also been accused of defiling and impregnating his brother’s daughter.

In the latest incident, he was said to have been unusually frequenting the bedroom of the daughters with pretexts of setting a clock alarm only to end up molesting them.

On Tuesday, police said one of the girls has already been taken for medical tests before the man is arraigned.

“The suspect was seized today and already one of the girls has already been taken to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital for medical tests before he is prosecuted,” said Ambasa.

There were dramatic scenes outside Kisii Police Station after villagers wanted police to allow them to lynch the suspect.
