Mayor of Kumasi, Sam Pyne, says it’s hurtful that some elements within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) are of the view that people who support the Vice President do not have a mind of their own.
There are claims that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is an establishment candidate and therefore needs to be rejected by members of the NPP.
But speaking on Kumasi-based Hello FM, Sam Pyne indicated that people are supporting Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia not because they have been whipped in line but because of their relationship with the Vice President and his competence.
He indicated that he has been propagating the need for the Vice President to lead the NPP since 2017 because of his human relations and ability to propel the political party to another pedestal.
“I know what he can do. I’ve been propagating his works since we came to power. No one has called me to support Dr Bawumia. He has not called me to support him, nor has any authority told me to support him, but I know he has the competence to lead the NPP.
So they shouldn’t make it seem that those of us in government supporting Dr Bawumia are not wise. It is hurting, and it is bad. You have your reasons for supporting your candidate and so do we,” he said.
