Immediate Press Release:Concerned NPP Members Demand Resignation of General Secretary Justin Kodua

A group identifying themselves as concerned members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has issued a passionate call for the immediate resignation of the party’s General Secretary, Mr. Justin Frimpong Kodua, citing what they describe as “poor leadership and failed decision-making.”

The group, operating under the banner Save NPP Now, released a statement on Sunday, accusing Mr. Kodua of making unilateral and ill-considered decisions, particularly highlighting the party’s sudden withdrawal from the Ablekuma electoral contest. According to them, the withdrawal was announced without proper consultation or research, an action they say has cast doubt on the competence and transparency of the party’s current leadership.

“The abrupt announcement regarding the Ablekuma election withdrawal without thorough research or consultation has sparked widespread criticism and discontent within the party ranks,” the statement read. “This decision not only reflects poorly on Mr. Kodua’s leadership but also severely undermines the credibility and unity of the New Patriotic Party.”

The concerned members argue that beyond this singular incident, Mr. Kodua has consistently failed to manage internal party affairs effectively. They allege that his communication with grassroots members and party stakeholders has been lacking, leading to growing mistrust and disillusionment.

“Mr. Kodua’s inability to provide clear direction and engage openly with the party’s base has weakened confidence in his leadership. It is evident that the party cannot afford to move forward under such conditions,” said Benjamin Kwarteng, one of the convenors of the group.

The group is therefore calling on the NPP’s national leadership to act swiftly by accepting Mr. Kodua’s resignation and appointing a new General Secretary who they believe can restore discipline, communication, and strategic focus as the party prepares for crucial political contests ahead.

“The future of the party and the trust of its members are at stake. We need strong, competent leadership that can make informed decisions and inspire unity,” the statement emphasized.

The Save NPP Now group says it remains committed to advocating for reforms that will strengthen the party and return it to its foundational principles.
