The Ghana Police Service has held a solemn burial service in Kumasi to honour police personnel, political leaders and civilians who passed away this year. The ceremony brought together senior police officers, government officials and families of the deceased, creating an atmosphere of reflection and unity as mourners gathered to pay their final respects.

The Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Osei Akoto Arthur, who led the event, delivered a heartfelt address to the bereaved families. He extended the condolences of the police administration and assured relatives of the deceased of the Service’s unwavering support during their time of grief.

“We stand with the bereaved families, and they should remain calm, for we are with them in this difficult time,” he stated.

DCOP Arthur also used the occasion to caution criminals and individuals planning unlawful activities ahead of the Christmas celebrations. He stressed that the police remain vigilant and fully prepared to tackle any security threat during the festive period.

“We are appealing to the public to report any suspicious activities to the police, and we will take swift action,” he added.

The Regional Commander further encouraged the public to remain vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement agencies to ensure a peaceful and secure holiday season. He reaffirmed the Service’s commitment to protecting life and property, urging citizens to promptly report any concerns or information that could aid security operations.

The burial service served as a solemn reminder of the sacrifices made by police personnel in the line of duty and highlighted the importance of strong community support in promoting peace, safety and national cohesion.
