Four Armed Robbers, Thirteen Illegal Miners Nabbed as Ashanti South Police Intensify Operations
The Ashanti South Regional Police Command has achieved two major breakthroughs in its ongoing operations against violent crime and illegal mining, leading to the arrest of four suspected armed robbers and thirteen illegal miners in separate intelligence-led operations. The arrests were announced by the Ashanti South Regional Police Commander, DCOP Mr. Joseph Nyaaba, during a press conference on Friday.

DCOP Nyaaba stated that the operations form part of the Command’s renewed commitment to safeguarding communities, protecting the environment, and restoring public confidence in law enforcement across the region.
Four Armed Robbers Arrested After Violent Attack at Ofoase Kokobeng
The first incident occurred on December 8, 2025, at about 7:00 p.m. when complainant Aliu Mohammed of Anwiankwanta was attacked by six armed robbers, two of whom were masked and wielding assault rifles. The attack happened right in front of his residence at Ofoase Kokobeng, moments after he had closed from work and was driving home in his Toyota Camry Spider with registration number GR 8009-15.

The robbers held him at gunpoint and made away with seventeen pounds of gold valued at GH₵200,000, an Infinix Hot 60 mobile phone valued at GH₵3,000, cash amounting to GH₵490,000, a pump-action gun, and his vehicle. Police officers responded immediately upon receiving the report and later found the abandoned vehicle within the Ofoase Kokobeng township.
The following day, December 9, 2025, at about 6:00 p.m., intelligence efforts led to the arrest of two suspects—Salifu Adamu alias Scorpion (25) and Abdul Latif alias Bullet (20)—at the Tweapease Police checkpoint. A search conducted on Abdul Latif revealed two live cartridges.
Further investigations on December 10, 2025, at about 8:00 a.m., resulted in the arrest of two additional suspects—Samed Abdulai (40) and Ali Mustapha (30)—also at Tweapease. All four suspects are currently in lawful custody as investigations continue.

Police Commander Sends Strong Warning to Criminals
The Regional Commander used the occasion to issue a stern warning to criminal elements operating within the region. He urged armed robbers, in particular, to desist from their violent activities, adding that his officers will pursue and arrest anyone found engaging in crime.

“For the illegal miners, I also advise you to desist from your acts or face arrest and the full rigours of the law,” he emphasized.
