GHANA IMMIGRATION SERVICE OFFICIALS STOP INFILTRATION OF BURKINABE GUN MEN INTO KULUNGUNGU.

There were reports of armed conflict with gunshots in Cinkum, Burkina Faso, on Wednesday, 27th October, 2021.

Accordingly, Ghana Border Control Officials were on alert to stop a spillover of the conflict, and an infiltration of gun men into Ghana through the Kulungugu border post and its adjourning unapproved routes.

Between 7 and 8 pm, as GIS officials at the Kulungugu border post were on their routine night patrol, they noticed three (3) motorcycles from Burkina Faso speeding in the direction of Ghana. Each motorcycle had a rider and a pillion rider.

Suspicious, the GIS officials stopped the motorcycle riders for questioning, but the riders sped off. They were given a hot chase and five of them escaped in the darkness back into Burkina Faso.

One of them was arrested and upon being searched, he was found to be carrying a cutlass, a locally manufactured gun, and seventy-nine (79) AK 47 bullets.

The suspect and the exhibits have been handed over to the Bawku Police for further action.
