The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Free Zones Authority (GFZA), Dr. Mary Awusi, has reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to strengthening bilateral trade and investment relations with Germany as she represented the Authority at a high-level Business Roundtable organized by the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC). The event was held as part of the official State Visit of the German President, H.E. Frank-Walter Steinmeier, to Ghana.

The Business Roundtable brought together key officials, business leaders, and investors from both Ghana and Germany to explore new avenues of economic cooperation in critical sectors such as manufacturing, agribusiness, renewable energy, and industrial development. The German delegation was led by Dr. Thomas Steffen, a prominent figure in German economic diplomacy, who expressed his country’s keen interest in deepening its economic engagement with Ghana and the West African region.

Representing the Ghana Free Zones Authority, Dr. Mary Awusi expressed appreciation to the GIPC and the visiting German delegation for creating a platform for productive dialogue that promotes sustainable investment partnerships. She reiterated the GFZA’s unwavering commitment to providing a conducive environment for investors and positioning Ghana as a strategic hub for export-oriented industries.

Dr. Awusi explained that the Authority remains focused on facilitating strategic investments that will drive industrial growth, enhance value addition, and generate employment opportunities for Ghanaians. She underscored the significance of Ghana’s Free Zones Programme, which offers investors attractive fiscal incentives, access to infrastructure, and simplified regulatory procedures to promote business efficiency and global competitiveness.

In her remarks, Dr. Awusi highlighted Germany’s reputation for technological innovation and sustainable industrial practices, noting that these attributes align perfectly with Ghana’s development vision. She assured the German business community of Ghana’s stable political environment, sound economic policies, and strong legal framework that protect investor interests and foster growth.

The discussions at the roundtable focused on deepening cooperation through joint ventures, technology transfer, and knowledge sharing to enhance productivity within Ghana’s manufacturing and export sectors. Dr. Awusi used the opportunity to invite German companies to leverage the numerous opportunities offered under Ghana’s Free Zones initiative, which serves as a gateway for investors seeking access to regional and international markets.

The meeting concluded on a positive note, with both Ghanaian and German participants expressing a renewed commitment to strengthen trade and investment relations. The engagement was widely regarded as a significant step in advancing Ghana-Germany economic cooperation and promoting sustainable industrial transformation through partnerships anchored on mutual growth and shared prosperity.
