GFZA Reaffirms Commitment to Industrial Growth at GIPC Business Roundtable with German Delegation

The Ghana Free Zones Authority (GFZA) has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to promoting industrial growth and sustainable investment in Ghana as its Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Mary Awusi, participated in a high-level Business Roundtable organized by the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) to engage a visiting German delegation. The meeting formed part of the official State Visit of the President of Germany, H.E. Frank-Walter Steinmeier, to Ghana.

The roundtable, held in Accra, brought together senior government officials, captains of industry, and representatives from both Ghana and Germany to explore new and innovative ways to strengthen trade and investment ties between the two nations. The German delegation was led by Dr. Thomas Steffen, who lauded Ghana’s growing reputation as one of Africa’s most stable and investment-friendly economies.

Speaking on behalf of the Ghana Free Zones Authority, Dr. Mary Awusi commended the GIPC for hosting such an impactful engagement and emphasized that the GFZA remains focused on positioning Ghana as a preferred destination for export-oriented investment. She underscored the Authority’s role in facilitating strategic partnerships in manufacturing, agribusiness, and renewable energy, all aimed at expanding Ghana’s industrial base and creating more employment opportunities for its citizens.

Dr. Awusi noted that the GFZA has over the years provided an enabling environment for businesses operating within the country’s free zones, supported by attractive incentives, efficient infrastructure, and transparent regulatory processes that encourage sustainable industrial growth. She reaffirmed that the Authority’s overarching goal is to help drive value addition, promote exports, and enhance Ghana’s global competitiveness in trade and industry.

According to her, Ghana’s Free Zones Programme remains one of the country’s strongest pillars of economic transformation, offering international investors a strategic gateway to the West African sub-region. She explained that through continued collaboration with development partners such as Germany, the GFZA hopes to expand its influence in critical growth sectors while aligning with Ghana’s industrialization agenda.

Dr. Awusi further praised Germany’s long-standing commitment to Ghana’s development, particularly in technology transfer, renewable energy, and vocational training, stressing that such partnerships are vital in achieving shared prosperity. She extended an open invitation to the German business community to take advantage of Ghana’s stable political climate, skilled workforce, and strategic location to establish sustainable business ventures under the Free Zones scheme.

The engagement also provided a platform for stakeholders to discuss potential areas of cooperation, including joint ventures, capacity building, and the introduction of advanced industrial technologies to enhance Ghana’s manufacturing efficiency. Discussions centered on the mutual benefits of deepening Ghana-Germany trade relations, fostering innovation, and promoting environmentally sustainable industrial practices.

The event concluded with a renewed commitment from both Ghanaian and German participants to strengthen collaboration and build resilient economic partnerships. The Ghana Free Zones Authority’s active participation was widely commended as a demonstration of the government’s dedication to transforming Ghana’s economy through investment-driven industrialization and sustainable export growth.
