As part of his birthday celebrations, George Kojo Banson president of Young Christian Workers paid a visit to the Motherly Love Orphanage Home in Accra. This marks the fourth consecutive year Mr. Banson has donated to an orphanage on his birthday.
“I don’t usually have a specific location in mind,” Mr. Banson explained. “Instead, I choose an area and search for an orphanage to support. This year, I was led to the Motherly Love Orphanage Home.”
Mr. Banson, who celebrates his birthday on December 20, gathers with friends every December 31 to identify a worthy cause. “We look for orphanages or other organizations supporting those in need,” he said.
Looking ahead, Mr. Banson plans to expand his charitable efforts beyond Accra. “My goal is to travel to other regions and support local orphanages. Accra has benefited from my donations for four years now, and it’s time to reach out to other areas.”
Mr. Banson issued a challenge to all Ghanaians to support the Motherly Love Orphanage Home, which faces significant challenges, particularly with regards to accommodation. The orphanage has recently acquired land and is seeking donations of building materials, such as cement and iron rods.
“I urge everyone to contribute whatever they can,” Mr. Banson emphasized. “You don’t need to have a lot to give. Every little bit counts, and your support will be blessed.”
Mr. Banson’s heartfelt appeal to Ghanaians is to show compassion and kindness to the Motherly Love Orphanage Home, and to support their efforts to provide a safe and nurturing environment for those in need.
Reverend John Azuma, founder of Motherly Love Orphanage Home in Kwabenya, Accra, expressed his gratitude for the donations. “We truly appreciate these donations, especially during times like these,” he said. “What we need most are essentials like soft drinks, biscuits, chips, and other necessities.”
Rev. Azuma also highlighted some of the challenges faced by the orphanage. “One of our major concerns is securing a permanent building,” he explained. “Currently, we’re renting our facility, but we’re eager to construct our own building at Shai Hills. To achieve this, we need support with building materials like cement, iron rods, and other essential supplies.”
