Fighting traffic situation in Kumasi metropolis, KMA Schools Transport Unions.

As part of efforts to ease traffic situation in Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly, KMA in conjunction with transport union has embarked on one day sensitisation program to school transport operators about the need to fight traffic situation in the metropolis.
The successful deliberation brought together various transport organisations such us DVLA, transport operators, driver, Assembly members and other key stakeholders.

Speaking to the Media after the successful event the mayor of Kumasi Hon. Samuel Pyne stated that the development of Kumasi is very key to each and everybody in Kumasi and there is the need to make sure we will enforce law to fish out anyone who will disobey it especially the transport operators.

What we are doing today will help us to find lasting solution to traffic situation and the law will be enforce to make the city free congestion.

On the other note the heat of transport department at the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly Mr. Randy Wilson added that the transport situation in Kumasi is gradually losing it effectiveness due to unavailability of law enforcement so in order to make the law work effectively there is the need of the metropolis to bring on board the major stakeholders of transport operators.

He indicated that politicization of every issue is also a major problem to enforce the law but with this discussion no one will go free if the person refuse to obey the law.
Mr. Randy Wilson concluded that so many Unions doesn’t have station at the metropolis and these people are the main people who normally cause traffic in the metropolis.

 

In conclusion, the Ashanti Regional director of Road Safety Commission, Mrs. Simbiat Wiredu stated that the issue of transport situation is a major concern to everyone and we need to come together and make sure the law is enforce to reduce rampant accident on our road.
She said driving is all about three important things these are skills, knowledge and altitude which is very important in driving.
