The Chief Executive Officer and Principal of Secret Effort College (SEC) in Kumasi, Mr. Ernest Agyapong Bofa has advised the youth that “life” begins from somewhere, and “success” is not attained overnight noting that most of world leaders such as Nelson Mandela, have once failed in life; hence “failing” does not necessarily mean the end of life.
SEC is an Accredited West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) Remedial School in Kumasi, Ashanti Region of Ghana, that seeks to equip students with the needed “knowledge and skills” to excel their respective examination.
The Principal in an interview with The Chronicle, disclosed that students tend to be discouraged when they fail their WASSCE, adding that some don’t even no their next step in life, hence the existence of his outfit(SEC).
Adding that they(SEC) help direct students’ path towards greater ends by “identifying and honing” the adeptness of students as well as orienting students to pursue programmes, at the tertiary level, that complements their adeptness, citing that some students are very eloquent and can be harness into a Journalist, noting that is all about the “end results”.
Mr. Bafo indicated that the “mentality of students” is among the challenges that hinder the “progress” of a student, noting that some students have been indoctrinated to be “dumb” and tends to relax, when challenged a bit, as well as financial challenges.
The Principal disclosed that some parents lose interest in their wards’ education, due to financial challenges, when their wards fail in WASSCE, urging parents to invest in their wards’ education to facilitate the realisation of their ward’s aspirations.
And also urged Non-governmental Organisations , Churches, Private Institutions and Government Officials to be “support system” to these “brilliant but needy” students.
The Chief Executive advised the youth not to be pressured by their peers but should be hardworking in their respective trades, and also desist from cutting corners noting that life is a “process”, thus taking a step at a time.
Mr. Ernest Agyapong Bafo, who also doubles as Co-founder of Edutec Career Foundation (ECF) has also called on Lawyer Kofi Obiri Yeboah, the Member of Parliament, Subin Constituency; in which SEC and ECF are located, to support ECF to facilitate its efficiency in helping students.
Edutec Career Foundation is an educational outreach organisation that educates Junior and Senior High School students on the selection of suitable programmes to pursue as well as setting students onto a prospective career pathway. END
