Ejurahene Celebrates Birthday Month with Free Health Screening for Over 200 Residents

In a remarkable show of leadership and compassion, the Chief of the Ejura Divisional Council, Barimah Osei Hwedie II, has marked his birth month with a generous gesture by organizing a free health screening for the people of Ejura in the Ashanti Region.
The impactful exercise, which took place on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at the forecourt of the Ejura Palace, brought together over 200 residents from various parts of the municipality. The initiative, which sought to promote preventive healthcare, was made possible through a collaboration between Akyama FM and the ANISE Health Care Foundation.
Participants of the screening benefitted from a wide range of medical services, including checks for high blood pressure, diabetes, hepatitis B, and eye conditions. The team of dedicated medical professionals, led by Dr. Angela Osei Mensah, worked tirelessly throughout the day to provide essential care and medications free of charge.
Speaking on behalf of Ejurahene Barimah Osei Hwedie II, a board member of Akyama FM, Okofo Asante, delivered a heartfelt message in which the Chief reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to the well-being of his people. He noted that the gesture was not only to mark his personal milestone but also to remind the community of the importance of regular health check-ups.
“I am deeply grateful to God for adding another year to my life. As a leader, I see this moment as an opportunity to give back to my people. Health is a priceless asset, and I will continue to champion initiatives that protect and improve the lives of my people,” the statement read.
Barimah Osei Hwedie II further urged residents to adopt preventive health practices and seek early medical attention to avoid complications. He also expressed appreciation to the healthcare professionals and all collaborators for their support in making the event a success.
Dr. Angela Osei Mensah, the head of the medical team, described the outreach as timely and life-saving. She revealed that several of the beneficiaries had underlying conditions that had gone undetected for years.
“Events like this are crucial because many people do not know they are living with conditions like hypertension or diabetes until it is too late. We are grateful to the Ejurahene for this noble initiative and look forward to continuing our support through the ANISE Health Care Foundation,” she said.
Beneficiaries of the screening expressed joy and gratitude for the initiative, describing the Ejurahene as a visionary and caring leader whose actions go beyond ceremonial duties.
The successful event not only celebrated the Chief’s birth month but also reaffirmed his commitment to building a healthier Ejura community. As the screening wrapped up, many participants called for such programs to be held regularly, especially in remote communities with limited access to healthcare.
