As part of government educational reforms, the Nadowli Kaleo District Assembly in the Upper West Region has donated over 1,500 free school uniforms and 3,000 nose masks to the education directorate in the district to be distributed to children without uniforms and nose masks
Madam Katherine T. Lankono the district Chief Executive, said the uniforms will be distributed to students with either tattered uniforms or those who wore house dresses because they had no uniform
She added that, during her visit to some schools in the district, she was touched about how some children still go to school without a prescribed dress from the ministry of education and Ghana Education service as approved dress for school children
“I was in the class room before I went into entreprenureship and now the government representative in the district and I appreciate the challenges the directorate is facing and it is in my mind to support them to aid teaching and learning”. She admonished the potential beneficiaries of the uniforms to take their studies seriously as she anticipate a better youth after her generation.
The DCE reiterate the commitment of the Assembly to improving teaching and learning in the District and will do everything possible within the premises of law to seek to it that school children become employers through the implementation of Free Senior High School and the supply of free uniforms to the basic level of education.
Madam Lankono said she will want to be remembered as the DCE who contributed to the growth of education in the district than any other DCE since the creation of the District.
The Planning officer at the District Directorate of the Ghana Education Service, Linus Gbireh ,who received the items on behalf of the beneficiary schools commended Nadowli Kaleo District Assembly for the gesture and promised to put the items into good use.
