Dce Hands Over Six Unit Class Room Block To Jang Primary School

 

The District Chief Executive of the Nadowli Kaleo District Assembly Hon Katherine T.Lankono has handed over a six unit classroom block with an office complex and other ancillary facilities to the Jang Primary school in the upper west region of Ghana to augment the current inadequate class space in the school as more than 85 pupils are allowed in a class room.

Constructed with a sum of Ghc 496.000.00 from the district’s share of the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFUND), the facility is expected to lighten the infrastructural burden of the school.

Speaking at the handing over ceremony, the District Chief Executive Kathrine T. Lankono used the occasion and appealed to the school authority to be more serious in the education of their children as education is one of the tools to development in any community in the country.

Madam Lankono admonished the community members to take very good care of the facility as the government has plans to add more infrastructure to make teaching and learning attractive in every level of education in the district

On his part, the acting director of education at the Nadowli Kaleo district Linus Gbireh, expressed the directorate appreciation to the assembly and pledge to provide furniture to the facility to enable the school use the facility as results of the Covid 19 protocols of social distancing.

He said the Directorate was on track to providing the enabling environment for effective teaching and learning, and asked the students to put the facility into good use and maximize its benefits whilst maintaining it. He encouraged the teachers to work hard, since they are the backbone to the success of the students.

The headmaster, Mr. Dasah A vencent , whilst appreciating the DCE and the Assembly for the facility, asked for more.

He said the school currently lacks furniture and requested of the assembly to come to their aid.
He assured that the facility was going to be properly maintained and put to good use.

MrDasah revealed that the facility has come at the right time as they struggle to observe the Ghana Health Service and Ministry if health protocols on covid 19,according to him the current class size in the school is 85 pupils per class, this he said has breached the protocols of social distancing and the Ghana Education service standard of 45 pupils in a class.

The short ceremony was graced by the DCE, the assembly works engineer, the assembly planning officer and some staff of the assembly, the representative of the district director of education, the PTA, the assembly man for the area and the press.
