C’tee set up to probe disturbances at Krobea Asante Technical

Ashanti Regional Co-ordinating Council (RCC) in collaboration with the Ministry of Education has set up a five-member committee to probe the issue of vandalism by students of the Krobea Asante Technical and Vocational School.

Over 40 students were remanded last Sunday for causing damage to government vehicles as they apparently protested the poor results of their seniors’ final examination.

The committee will be chaired by a justice of the Appeals Court, Justice Samuel Obeng Diawuo.

He will be supported by Rev. Rt. Nuh Ben Abubekr, a retired Methodist Bishop and Mr. David Adu-Osei, a retired regional commander.

The other members are Deputy Director-General of Ghana TVET Service, David Prah, and Dr. Abeiku Apprey, Former Principal Officer of the Kumasi Technical Institute.

The Chief Director of the Ashanti Regional Co-ordinating Council will be the secretary but an ex-officio member of the committee.

While a date for the inauguration of the committee is yet to be announced, it is expected to complete investigation and submit a report in the space of two weeks after induction.
