Residents of New Koforidua in the Juaben municipality of the Ashanti Region are demanding accountability from the unit committee members, Chief and his elders on an amount of forty thousand Ghana cedis Ghc 40,000.00 belongs to the community.
The aggrieved residents when speaking to Newsmen revealed that, an amount of forty thousand Ghana cedis Ghc 40,000 have been given to the community by the Juaben municipal Assembly as compensation to the community for dismantle of Kasapa mash in the town.
According to them, the community can’t find the rest of the money belongs the community.
“When we ask members of the unit committee about the money they refer us to traditional authorities and the traditional authorities also refer us to unit committee” residents added.
In his response, the unit committee chairman Hon Kwaku Siaw said that, he had information from the municipal assembly of an amount of forty thousand Ghana cedis Ghc 40,000.00 meant for developmental projects for the community but the traditional authorities have only given him an amount of Ghc 1,000.00 as personal money to buy credit.
He said,the members of unit committee have not received any amount of the traditional authorities.
He asked the residents to exercise restraint as the Juaben traditional council has started with investigation of the issue and will come out with positive response.
