A man believed to be a taxi driver has been killed and hanged on a tree at Gomoa Akotsi in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region.
Investigation conducted by police indicates that the deceased struggled with the assailants before they killed him and hanged on a tree along the roadside.
The incident happened on Friday, March 10, 2023 around 5:30 PM.
The taxi driver was allegedly hired by the unkwown assailants and directed him towards a bush where he was killed him and his taxi cab taken away.
The Gomoa Ojobi police command deployed officers to the crime scene, removed the body and deposited it at the Winneba Specialist and Trauma Hospital Mortuary for autopsy and preservation.
Family of the deceased are yet to be identified.
Meanwhile, speaking in an interview with Kasapa News Yaw Boagyan, residents bemoaned the rampant killing of innocent people notably taxi drivers in the area.
They are living in fear and panic and have cautioned taxi drivers to be careful anytime they hired.
The residents are appealing to the police to intensify security in the area and have also called for a swoop to rid the area of criminals.
