BECE candidate dies after writing his final paper

A tragic incident has occurred in the Amenfi West District of the Western region, where a 17-year-old candidate for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) has sadly passed away. The young student, identified as Richmond Quao, lost his life on Friday, August 11, 2023, shortly after completing his final exam.

The news was reported by Ohene Nana on the radio program “Nyankonton Mu Nsem” broadcasted on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM. According to the report, Richmond Quao had been feeling unwell in the days leading up to his untimely demise. He was taken to the hospital for treatment, but his condition took a turn for the worse despite taking the prescribed medication.
It’s heartrending to note that Richmond Quao, determined to complete his exams, initially declined the hospital’s request for him to be admitted. His desire to finish the exams prevailed over his own health concerns. However, following the conclusion of his paper on that fateful Friday, he continued to feel unwell and was subsequently rushed back to the hospital.

Reports indicate that during this time, he was experiencing alarming symptoms, including coughing up blood, which heightened the concerns of his family and the medical staff attending to him. Despite their efforts, the unfortunate outcome was his passing.

The entire incident has left Richmond Quao’s family, as well as the local residents, in a state of shock and deep anguish.
