Atwima Nwabiagya MCE Appeals to Teachers to Trust NDC, Assures Support for Education Sector

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Atwima Nwabiagya Municipal, Hon. Wisdom Boamah, has called on teachers to repose confidence in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government as a reliable partner in advancing Ghana’s educational sector.
Addressing the 7th Quadrennial Delegates Conference of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) at Abuakwa, Hon. Boamah emphasized the NDC’s unwavering commitment to teacher welfare, educational reforms, and infrastructural development.
According to the MCE, the NDC government—both past and present—has demonstrated a strong track record of improving conditions for teachers and learners alike. He therefore urged teachers across the municipality and the country at large to support the party’s vision for education.
“I am appealing to you, our noble teachers, to trust the NDC government. The party has always prioritized education and teacher welfare. You can be assured of better working conditions, timely promotions, and a stronger voice in decision-making under our leadership,” he stated.
In a bold announcement that drew loud applause from the audience, Hon. Boamah hinted that the controversial teacher licensure examination could be cancelled under an NDC government. He indicated that the party views the examination as a burden on teachers and believes there are more effective ways to ensure quality education.
“We have heard your concerns on the teacher licensure exams. I want to assure you that the NDC has promised to abolish it. We believe in empowering teachers, not burdening them,” he said.
Touching on infrastructure, the MCE pledged to provide additional furniture to public basic schools in the municipality to help improve the learning environment. He noted that the Assembly has already taken steps to procure desks for schools in dire need.
“As part of our commitment to quality education, the Assembly will supply more furniture to schools facing shortages. No child should sit on the floor to learn in Atwima Nwabiagya,” he emphasized.
With the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) fast approaching, Hon. Boamah also encouraged candidates to study hard and remain focused. He advised them to avoid distractions and seek support from their teachers and parents.
“You are the future leaders of this country. Use your time wisely, study hard, and make yourselves and your families proud,” he told the students present.
The conference brought together hundreds of GNAT members, education stakeholders, and Assembly officials, and provided a platform for discussing teacher welfare, educational policies, and the way forward for quality basic education in the municipality.
Hon. Boamah’s address has been widely commended by participants as inspiring and timely, especially at a time when calls for improved teaching and learning conditions are growing louder across the country.
