Ashanti Regional Prisons Chaplain Feeds 1,700 Inmates at Kumasi Central Prison

Rev. Mrs. Superintendent Stella Ama Anku Katso, the Founder of Amenuve Outreach Ministry and Ashanti Regional Prisons Chaplain, has provided a special meal for over 1,700 inmates at the Kumasi Central Prison, as part of an effort to bring joy and hope to their lives.

During the feeding program, which aimed to put smiles on the faces of the incarcerated individuals, Rev. Mrs. Katso also took the opportunity to share the word of God with the inmates. The program proved to be a spiritual turning point for many, as hundreds of prisoners gave their lives to Jesus Christ, accepting Him as their personal Savior.

In an exclusive interview with the media following the event, Rev. Mrs. Katso shared the significance of the initiative. “It’s not just about feeding the inmates physically, but also providing them with the spiritual nourishment they need. Through this act, we aim to show them that they are not forgotten by society and that there is still hope for them,” she said.

The Chaplain, who has been at the forefront of efforts to support the rehabilitation and spiritual growth of prisoners, emphasized the importance of rehabilitation, not just in a physical sense but also in a moral and spiritual context. “This is an opportunity for them to make a fresh start. We want to offer them the chance to rebuild their lives, find peace within themselves, and re-enter society as transformed individuals,” she added.

Rev. Mrs. Katso also used the platform to make an impassioned appeal to Ghanaians to embrace and show love to ex-convicts once they are released from prison. She stressed that their reintegration into society requires the collective effort of families, communities, and the public at large. “As a society, we have a responsibility to accept ex-convicts back into our communities with love and compassion. Only then can we truly help them change and contribute positively to the nation,” she said.

The event at the Kumasi Central Prison was part of an ongoing initiative led by Rev. Mrs. Katso to provide both material and spiritual support to incarcerated individuals in Ghana. This feeding program and the accompanying religious service were part of her mission to ensure that inmates are given the necessary guidance and encouragement during their time in prison and beyond.

For many of the inmates, the gesture was a reminder that they are not forgotten, and that there is hope for a better future. Rev. Mrs. Katso’s commitment to their well-being continues to inspire both prisoners and the public, reinforcing the belief that rehabilitation and redemption are possible with support, love, and faith.

In closing, Rev. Mrs. Katso urged Ghanaians to reflect on their role in the rehabilitation of ex-convicts and to offer second chances to those seeking to rebuild their lives. “As a nation, we must create an environment where ex-convicts feel welcomed and supported. This is the key to building a safer and more just society,” she concluded.
