Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, had the distinct honor of joining the Muslim community at the Kumasi Central Mosque this morning to mark the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan. The event was a moment of reflection and unity, as Muslims across the world engage in fasting, prayer, and acts of charity during this sacred period.
Dr. Amoakohene, who was in attendance on behalf of His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, conveyed a heartfelt message of peace and solidarity from the former President. In his message, Dr. Amoakohene reaffirmed President Mahama’s unwavering support for the Muslim community, particularly during their sacred pilgrimage to Mecca.
One of the key commitments shared by the Ashanti Regional Minister was the President’s initiative to reduce the Hajj fee, a move aimed at easing the financial burden on pilgrims. Dr. Amoakohene also highlighted the full development of the Hajj Village into a modern facility, designed to provide a comfortable environment for pilgrims. In addition, the establishment of a passport center within the Hajj Village was also promised, making travel processes more efficient and accessible for those embarking on the journey.
In a deeply meaningful moment during the event, Dr. Amoakohene was bestowed with a new name by the Chief Imam of Kumasi. The title, Hon. Dr. Alhaji Abubakar Saddique, was given to Dr. Amoakohene in recognition of his service to the community. He expressed deep gratitude for this honor, promising to wear the new title with both humility and pride.
In his remarks, Dr. Amoakohene reflected on the significance of Ramadan, describing it as a time for personal reflection, sacrifice, and the strengthening of unity among all members of society. He extended his warm wishes to all Muslims during this blessed month, praying for peace, prosperity, and blessings for all.
As Muslims continue to observe the fast and engage in spiritual reflection, Dr. Amoakohene’s message of solidarity and President Mahama’s ongoing support for the community stands as a beacon of hope and encouragement for all.
“Ramadan is a time of reflection, sacrifice, and unity. May Allah bless all our Muslim brothers and sisters during this sacred period. Ramadan Kareem!” Dr. Amoakohene concluded, emphasizing the spirit of togetherness that defines this holy month.
