Residents of Banka-Busuafise, a suburb of Ashalaja in the Ga South Municipality of the Greater Accra Region, are living in fear following a series of violent attacks by suspected landguards that have claimed three lives and left one person in critical condition within the past three weeks.

The Assemblyman for the Ashalaja Electoral Area, Hon. Gilbert Kwame Afekpe, confirmed the grim incidents, revealing that two of the victims were beheaded, with their bodies discovered in an uncompleted building. Another individual was reportedly shot, while a fourth person sustained stab wounds and is currently receiving urgent medical treatment.
“These attacks have created a climate of fear in our community. Residents are no longer safe, and urgent intervention from security agencies is needed to prevent further loss of life,” Hon. Afekpe stated. He further criticized the police for what he described as inadequate responses to earlier reports of suspicious activities and threats in the area.
Eyewitnesses described the horror, with one resident recounting that police discovered one of the bodies behind her residence in an uncompleted building. She suspects the victim was beheaded elsewhere before being dumped at the scene.
The killings are widely believed to be linked to the operations of landguards in the area, a problem that has increasingly threatened the safety of residents and raised concerns about law enforcement effectiveness.
Hon. Afekpe is urging the relevant authorities to take decisive action to restore peace, apprehend the perpetrators, and reassure the community of their safety. Residents of Banka-Busuafise are appealing for swift intervention, emphasizing that continued inaction could lead to further tragedy.
