In a significant media interview today, Alhaji Musa Osman, Vice Chairman of the Ashanti Regional Finance Committee, urged President John Dramani Mahama to make the country’s economic struggles a top priority. He highlighted the escalating cost of living, the unstable dollar exchange rate, and the numerous taxes imposed by the outgoing New Patriotic Party (NPP) government as critical issues that demand urgent intervention. Alhaji Musa also stressed the need to focus on youth unemployment, which continues to be a major concern for the country.
“The rising cost of living and the fluctuating dollar rate are creating immense hardship for the people of Ghana. It is crucial that President Mahama takes swift action to reduce these taxes and alleviate the economic pressure on Ghanaians,” Alhaji Musa said.
In addition to addressing economic concerns, Alhaji Musa pointed out the urgent need to create job opportunities for the youth, who continue to struggle with high unemployment rates. “Our young people are the future of Ghana, but they are facing immense difficulties in securing employment. We need to create sustainable job opportunities and invest in skills development to ensure that the youth can contribute meaningfully to the nation’s growth,” he remarked.
Alhaji Musa Osman further appealed for national unity, urging all Ghanaians to come together and support President Mahama’s vision for the country’s development. “It is a time for unity. We must stand behind President Mahama in his efforts to build a prosperous Ghana for all citizens,” he said.
He also addressed recent incidents involving members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) youth, who were implicated in the destruction of state property. Alhaji Musa called on the youth to demonstrate patience and restraint, emphasizing that violence is not the solution. “I understand the frustrations of the youth, but we must channel our energy in a positive direction. Vandalism and destruction will not help us achieve our goals. We must stay calm and allow President Mahama and his administration to implement the necessary reforms. Patience, understanding, and collective effort are key to building the Ghana we all want,” he concluded.
