Aboabo Kesse D/A Primary School PTA Appeals for Urgent Renovation as Pupils Learn Under Pavilion

Parents of pupils of Aboabo Kesse D/A Primary School in the Atwima Kwanwoma Municipality of the Ashanti Region have made a passionate appeal to government authorities, corporate organisations, non-governmental organisations and benevolent individuals to urgently support the renovation of the school’s dilapidated classroom infrastructure.

The appeal was made during the school’s Carlos Day celebration, where the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) used the occasion to draw public attention to the poor learning conditions confronting pupils. Currently, teaching and learning take place under a pavilion partitioned with plywood, a temporary structure constructed several years ago by the PTA to serve as an emergency classroom.

Speaking to Oyerepa FM and Promise News, the PTA Chairman, Mr. Emmanuel Bruce, revealed that the school’s main classroom block has deteriorated to a dangerous state, compelling authorities to close the school and send pupils home whenever there is an indication of rainfall. He explained that the situation has become a frequent occurrence, disrupting academic work and affecting the overall performance of pupils.

According to Mr. Bruce, the constant interruption of lessons has made it difficult for teachers to complete their syllabi, while pupils are denied consistent instructional time in a safe and conducive environment. He noted that the makeshift pavilion offers little protection against harsh weather conditions, exposing both pupils and teachers to serious risks.

He therefore appealed to the Atwima Kwanwoma Municipal Assembly, the Ghana Education Service and other relevant stakeholders to treat the situation as urgent and intervene to rehabilitate the school’s infrastructure. Mr. Bruce stressed that quality education cannot be achieved without safe and well-equipped classrooms, adding that the future of children in the Aboabo Kesse community depends largely on the support they receive today.

The PTA Chairman further called on philanthropists and development partners to complement government efforts by providing assistance to improve the learning environment of the school.
