A Family In Police Grips over Murder

A 36-year-old mother and her 15-year-old son are in the grips of Koforidua Police Command over the death of 40-year-old husband and father respectively.

Mavis Amponsah and her son, Ebenezer, were arrested on Monday, August 30, 2021, at Asaman, a Community near Nkurakan in the Okere District of the Eastern Region of Ghana, by youth in the community led by Issah Abass, a unit committee member, and handed them over to the police.

The unit committee member narrated, that a misunderstanding ensued between Mavis Amponsah and the husband, Eric Amoako now a deceased, on Saturday, August 28, 2021, which the husband allegedly assaulted her.

Mavis invited her brother Kofi Dennis, 20, who came from Dawu, in the Akuapem north municipality, also in the Eastern region of Ghana, with two other men to retaliate by subjecting the man to severe beatings.

In the cause of the attack, the woman allegedly struck the head of the man with a pestle which resulted in severe head injury, and subsequently fell unconscious.

The man was rushed to the Eastern Regional Hospital but died a few hours later.

CID personnel visited Dawu Akuapem in an attempt to arrest the Suspects but we’re all at large.

The police are expected to secure a bench warrant for their arrest.

Meanwhile, the body of the deceased has been deposited at the Morgue of the same Hospital for preservation and autopsy.

Many residents thronged the Nkurakan Police station where the suspects were first put in custody before being transferred to Koforidua
