A/R: Cargo Truck Runs Over Tricycle at Agric Nzema Junction, Two Left in Critical Condition
Two people have been left in critical condition following a road accident involving a cargo truck and a pragia tricycle at Agric Nzema junction in the Kwadaso Municipality of the Ashanti Region.
The incident occurred earlier today when a delivery cargo truck with registration number GT 3029-14 reportedly ran over a pragia tricycle bearing registration number M-25-AW 9741, which was transporting two passengers—a rider and a trader.
According to eyewitnesses, the pragia tricycle had just reached its intended destination and was in the process of alighting the passengers when the cargo truck, allegedly due to brake failure, lost control and collided with the vehicle. The impact left both passengers of the tricycle seriously injured.
The victims were immediately rushed to a nearby health facility for urgent medical attention. Authorities at the scene confirmed that the situation of the two injured individuals is critical.
The Kwadaso Municipal Police and Fire Service units responded promptly to the scene to manage the situation and ensure the safety of other road users. Investigations are ongoing to ascertain the exact cause of the accident and determine whether negligence or mechanical failure contributed to the crash.
Motorists and residents have been urged to exercise caution along the busy Agric Nzema junction, a known accident-prone area, as traffic authorities continue investigations.
Officials are also appealing to drivers to maintain proper vehicle maintenance, particularly ensuring the functionality of brakes, to prevent similar accidents in the future.
