In a bold and commendable step toward enhancing security and promoting development in the Ahafo Ano North Municipality, the Chief of Tepa-Anyinasuso, Nana Oppong Kyekyeku, has cut the sod for the construction of a modern police station to serve the community and its surrounding areas.

The colourful ceremony, held on Monday at Anyinasuso, was attended by traditional leaders, assembly officials, residents, and other dignitaries, all of whom praised the initiative as timely and necessary for maintaining law and order in the area. The event marked the beginning of a long-awaited project expected to significantly curb crime and improve community policing in the fast-growing town.

In his address, Nana Oppong Kyekyeku noted that the decision to construct a police station stems from his deep concern for the safety and well-being of his people. He highlighted that peace and security are the foundation of every meaningful development, and as such, he had prioritized this project since ascending the throne two years ago. “The safety of my people is my utmost concern. Without peace, there can be no progress. This police station will help reduce crime and ensure the community continues to thrive,” the chief said to loud applause from the crowd.

He urged the community to continue to support the project through voluntary contributions and collective action. Nana Kyekyeku also called on the police administration and government to post personnel to the facility upon completion and equip it adequately to meet the security demands of the area.

The Assembly Member for the Anyinasuso Electoral Area, Hon. Anyaba Francis, lauded the chief’s vision and praised residents for their unity and sense of purpose. He pledged to work hand-in-hand with the chief and the local project committee to ensure that the police station is completed on schedule. “We will not rest until this building is fully completed and functional. By December this year, we aim to commission the facility. This is a game-changer for our community,” Hon. Anyaba assured.

Representing the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) at the event was the Presiding Member for the Ahafo Ano North Municipal Assembly, Hon. Francis Akakpo Elikplim. He spoke on behalf of the MCE, Hon. Akwasi Adusei, and commended Nana Oppong Kyekyeku for his proactive leadership and unwavering commitment to development.

In a show of support from the assembly, Hon. Akakpo Elikplim announced a donation of 100 bags of cement from the MCE toward the project. He further pledged that the assembly would continue to support the construction with additional building materials and logistical aid to ensure its successful completion. “This is a laudable initiative by the chief. The assembly recognizes and appreciates his leadership. On behalf of the MCE, we will stand with you to ensure this project sees the light of day,” he remarked.

Residents of Anyinasuso expressed joy and gratitude for the long-overdue intervention, with many describing the new police station as a beacon of hope for the area, which has in recent times faced rising security concerns including theft, land disputes, and traffic-related issues.

Construction work is expected to begin in earnest in the coming weeks, and the facility, once completed, will not only serve Anyinasuso but also provide security coverage to neighbouring communities within the Tepa jurisdiction.

This development adds to the growing list of community-driven projects under the reign of Nana Oppong Kyekyeku and reflects a renewed commitment by traditional leaders to partner with state institutions for sustainable local development.
