MTN Ghana Strengthens Digital Inclusion Drive with Community Engagement in Donkorkrom

MTN Ghana has once again demonstrated its unwavering commitment to bridging the digital divide by organizing a significant community engagement forum in Donkorkrom, a remote town in the Eastern Region. The initiative forms part of the telecommunications giant’s broader strategy to enhance customer experience and promote digital and financial inclusion, especially in underserved communities across the country.
The community forum brought together residents, local authorities, traditional leaders, and MTN officials in a lively and interactive session aimed at equipping the people of Donkorkrom with practical knowledge on digital tools and mobile money (MoMo) safety. Attendees were taken through important educational sessions on how to protect themselves from rising incidents of MoMo fraud, improve their use of mobile services, and harness digital tools to support their businesses and day-to-day activities.
Addressing the community, Mrs. Georgina Fiagbenu, Senior Manager for Corporate Communications at MTN Ghana, emphasized the importance of the engagement as part of the company’s commitment to delivering quality service and ensuring that no Ghanaian is left behind in the digital transformation agenda.
“Our visit to Donkorkrom is a reflection of our commitment to serving all customers, especially those in communities that have been historically underserved. We are listening, investing, and working with urgency to improve the quality of service,” she stated.
The session also provided a platform for MTN Ghana to update residents on ongoing investments aimed at strengthening network infrastructure and service reliability in Donkorkrom and its surrounding communities. The company’s team answered questions from the public, provided clarification on various services, and solicited valuable feedback on how MTN can better serve the area.
Hon. Kate Mawusi, the District Chief Executive of Donkorkrom, expressed profound appreciation to MTN Ghana for choosing Donkorkrom for such an important outreach. “I am happy to host MTN Ghana in Donkorkrom today. This visit demonstrates your commitment to your customers. We are excited to have you here,” she remarked.
The engagement also earned high praise from the traditional leadership of the area. Nana Akuamoah Boateng, Chief of Donkorkrom, commended MTN for being the first corporate organization to recognize and engage directly with the community. “This is the first time a big company like MTN has come here to speak to us face-to-face and listen to our concerns. It shows respect and dedication. We hope this relationship continues to grow stronger,” he said.
Donkorkrom, a growing community with increasing digital needs, has long struggled with limited infrastructure and connectivity challenges. MTN’s choice to hold the engagement there underscores its resolve to extend its services to every corner of the country and ensure inclusive service delivery.
For several years, MTN Ghana has rolled out similar community fora across the country, reaffirming its commitment to customer education, network development, digital literacy, and fraud prevention. These forums serve as an essential platform for building trust, offering real-time support, and empowering communities with knowledge and access to digital solutions.
MTN Ghana’s outreach in Donkorkrom marks another step forward in its journey to connect lives and communities, ensuring that even the most remote parts of Ghana are not left behind in the country’s digital future.
