Offinso to Get 24-Hour Economy Market – MCE

The Municipal Chief Executive for Offinso, Hon. Owusu Amoah Frank has announced plans to establish a 24-hour economy market in the municipality aimed at boosting economic activities and providing opportunities for residents.

Hon. Owusu Amoah Frank said the 24-hour market will create a vibrant and thriving business environment, catering to the needs of both locals and visitors.

The MCE said the market will be established in Offinso Newtown.

Speaking in a radio interview in Kumasi, the MCE said the proposed market will operate around the clock, providing a platform for traders to sell their goods and services at any time.

According to him, the market will not only enhance the economic prospects of the area but also provide convenience to residents and visitors alike.

According to the MCE, the market will include state-of-the-art facilities such as a police post, fire station, crèche, and other critical amenities.

Frank Owusu Amoah reveals that the establishment of the 24-hour economy market is expected to have a positive impact on the local economy, creating jobs and stimulating economic growth.

It will also provide opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises to thrive, contributing to the overall development of the area.

Hon. Owusu Amoah Frank, following his confirmation, initiated a series of market and institutional visits following his confirmation.

The primary goal of these visits is to familiarize himself with the institutional heads and traders, understand their challenges, and explore ways to incorporate market needs into the assembly’s policy framework.

During his market tour in the month of May, he visited the iconic Abofour Market, engaging with traders and acknowledging their concerns.

On May 20, Hon. Frank engaged with traders at the Offinso Newtown Market, gathering their pressing concerns and working towards finding lasting solutions.

Key challenges identified included inadequate market sheds, stalled projects, poor security, and sanitation issues.

Hon. Owusu Amoah Frank’s interview over the weekend pledged commitment to making Offinso South a trade hub with various economic business opportunities, leveraging the municipality’s strategic geographical location and its position on the Kumasi-Techiman highway.
