Umar Harris Calls on Mahama to Introduce Ministerial Scorecard for Accountability and Development

Youth activist Umar Harris has called on former President John Dramani Mahama to implement a performance scorecard system for all ministers if he returns to power. According to Harris, the move would enhance accountability, transparency, and good governance across the various ministries.
Speaking during a political talk show on Kumasi-based Orange FM on May 22, Harris stated that the time has come for Ghana to adopt a results-oriented leadership approach. He believes the introduction of a ministerial performance scorecard would allow for effective monitoring and evaluation of government appointees, ensuring that only those who deliver results remain in office.
Harris argued that such a framework would inspire greater public trust in government and strengthen the overall performance of the public sector. He also noted that the current uncertainty surrounding the energy sector underscores the need for leaders who are held to measurable standards.
He stressed that President Mahama must take swift action to ensure ministers are guided by clear expectations and evaluated based on merit, not politics. According to him, this will not only drive national development but also assure the youth that the country’s leadership is serious about change.
“The people of Ghana deserve a government that delivers real results,” he said. “It’s time to move from promises to performance. A scorecard system will ensure that the next Mahama administration is focused, effective, and accountable.”
