Kumawu-Woraso Residents, Assembly Member Appeal for Urgent Fix of Abandoned Road Stretch

The Assembly Member for Kumawu-Woraso electoral area , Hon. Maxwell Amponsah Duffour, together with residents and drivers plying the Bodomase-Woraso road, has made a passionate appeal to government to urgently fix a 3-kilometer abandoned road stretch linking the two communities.

According to Hon. Duffour, the road was initially tarred but was later degraded by contractors during the Kumawu NPP by-election with the promise of re-asphalting it. However, he lamented that after the by-election, all works ceased, leaving the road in a deplorable state that poses severe challenges to commuters, especially during rainy seasons.

“The road was motorable until the by-election period. It was scraped off with assurances that it would be upgraded right after the elections, but that never happened. Now, the road is worse than before, and our people are suffering,” he stated in an interview with the media.

He called on the Ashanti Regional Minister, Hon. Dr. Frank Amoakohene, and former President John Dramani Mahama to come to their aid and ensure the road is reconstructed to alleviate the hardship residents are enduring.

Some residents, traders, and commercial drivers also shared their frustrations over the abandoned road. They noted that the deteriorated stretch not only increases travel time but also damages vehicles, affects business activities, and poses a danger to school children and pregnant women.

The people of Kumawu-Woraso are hopeful that their concerns will be heard and that the necessary authorities will act swiftly to restore the road and improve transportation within the area.
