Hope Rises in Adum: Dr. Osei Yaw Adutwum Donates GH¢100K and Cement to Fire Victims

A wave of relief swept through Adum in Kumasi as former Education Minister and Member of Parliament for Bosomtwe, Dr. Osei Yaw Adutwum, extended a compassionate hand to victims of the recent fire disaster that gutted shops and businesses in the area.

On his visit to the site of the tragedy, Dr. Adutwum announced a personal donation of GH¢100,000 and 200 bags of cement to support the rebuilding efforts of affected traders. His intervention comes as a glimmer of hope for many who lost everything in the March 24 inferno.

“I share in your pain and loss. As someone who believes in empowering others, I couldn’t stand by without helping. This donation is to help you get started again, and I urge other Ghanaians—especially those in the private sector—to join hands and support you too,” Dr. Adutwum said during a brief ceremony at the scene.

The fire, which erupted in the heart of the bustling commercial zone, destroyed goods worth millions and left scores of traders stranded. Many of the victims, who depend solely on their businesses for survival, have been left with no source of income.

Nana Bobbie Ansah, chairman of the affected traders, received the donation with deep gratitude. “This is more than money—it is hope. We thank Dr. Adutwum for thinking of us in this difficult time. We are appealing to others to follow his lead and support our recovery,” he said.

The generous gesture by Dr. Adutwum has sparked admiration among residents and business owners, who lauded his empathy and quick action.

As efforts to rebuild begin, the community remains hopeful that more support will come their way to restore Adum’s vibrant trading life.
