Akyeremade D/A JHS Students Tour Parliament and Black Star Square to Deepen Knowledge

In a remarkable step towards enhancing practical learning, Akyeremade D/A Junior High School (JHS) has embarked on an educational tour to Accra, visiting key national landmarks such as Parliament House and Black Star Square. The trip, led by Headteacher Mr. Samuel Asante, aimed to provide students with firsthand knowledge of Ghana’s governance, history, and national heritage.

The initiative was made possible through the support of Hon. Kofi Amankwaa-Manu, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Atwima Kwanwoma Constituency, who has been a strong advocate for educational development in the district.

Bringing Lessons to Life

The tour allowed students to experience Ghana’s governance structure in a more engaging and interactive way. At Parliament House, they observed legislative proceedings and learned about the country’s law-making process. The visit to Black Star Square deepened their understanding of Ghana’s independence and national pride.

Speaking about the impact of the trip, Mr. Samuel Asante expressed his appreciation to Hon. Amankwaa-Manu and Parliament for facilitating the visit.

“This experience has transformed the way our students perceive governance and history. They are no longer just reading about these places in textbooks; they are seeing them, experiencing them, and understanding their significance firsthand,” he said.

He further commended the MP for his continuous support of education, highlighting his recent contribution to the school—an ultra-modern toilet facility to address longstanding sanitation challenges.

MP Reiterates Commitment to Education

Hon. Kofi Amankwaa-Manu reaffirmed his commitment to promoting quality education in Atwima Kwanwoma, emphasizing the importance of exposing students to real-world learning experiences.

“As a leader, I believe education is the foundation of development. This tour is just one of the many ways we are working to ensure that students in my constituency have access to meaningful learning opportunities,” he stated.

He assured that he would continue to support initiatives that enhance education, urging students to make the most of such opportunities for their personal and academic growth.

Educational Benefits of the Tour

The trip was designed to:

  • Offer students practical exposure to Ghana’s governance and history.
  • Foster patriotism and civic responsibility among young learners.
  • Make learning more engaging by connecting classroom knowledge to real-life experiences.
  • Broaden students’ understanding of the country’s institutions and heritage.

Conclusion

The historic educational tour by Akyeremade D/A JHS is a clear demonstration of how hands-on learning can complement traditional classroom teaching. With continued support from stakeholders like Hon. Amankwaa-Manu, such initiatives will go a long way in shaping the future of education in Atwima Kwanwoma, inspiring students to become informed and responsible citizens.
