The Gazelle Community School, located at Kotei SDA Junction in the Oforikrom Municipality of the Ashanti Region, has demonstrated its commitment to social responsibility by donating food items, clothes, and sandals worth over GH¢10,000 to the Kumasi Children’s Home.
Speaking during the presentation, the Headmaster of the school, Mr. Emmanuel Ohene Gyan, emphasized the need for parents and guardians to instill selflessness in their children. He urged them to teach their wards to prioritize the needs of others, as this would help nurture empathy and compassion—qualities essential for leadership and societal development.
“When children learn to think about the needs of others, they develop empathy and compassion, which will guide them in their future leadership roles,” he said.
The school’s management, proprietress, and pupils participated in the donation exercise, reaffirming their commitment to supporting the less privileged.
Some teachers of Gazelle Community School also underscored the importance of extending assistance to vulnerable individuals. They took the opportunity to appeal to the government to extend support to teachers in private schools, just as their counterparts in public institutions receive.
“We are calling on the government to consider private school teachers in various support schemes, just as our colleagues in public schools benefit,” a teacher noted.
Receiving the items on behalf of Kumasi Children’s Home, some staff members expressed their deep gratitude to the school management and students for their generosity. They highlighted the significance of such donations in improving the well-being of the children under their care.
“This support is a great relief for us, and we appreciate the school’s effort in making a difference in the lives of these children,” one of the staff members stated.
The donation exercise forms part of Gazelle Community School’s annual social responsibility initiatives aimed at fostering a culture of giving among students while supporting the less privileged in society.
