The Member of Parliament-elect for Atwima Nwabiagya North, Hon. Frank Yeboah, has visited Amakyebare to express his sympathy and support for residents affected by a devastating rainstorm that caused widespread destruction in the community.
The powerful storm, which struck recently, destroyed homes, schools, and businesses, leaving many residents displaced and struggling to recover. The situation has forced several families to seek shelter elsewhere, while school closures have disrupted education in the area.
Hon. Yeboah, deeply moved by the scale of devastation, engaged with local leaders, including the Chief of Amakyebare, Nana Gyedu Kumanni IV, and affected residents to assess the extent of the damage and discuss urgent relief measures.
“This disaster has left many families in a desperate situation. Homes have been destroyed, schools are closed, and livelihoods have been affected. I am here to stand with the people of Amakyebare and assure them of my commitment to mobilizing support for their recovery,” Hon. Yeboah stated during his visit.
He appealed to the government, the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), and philanthropic organizations to intervene swiftly and provide essential relief items, including food, shelter, and building materials.
Chief and Residents Cry for Urgent Assistance
The Chief of Amakyebare, Nana Gyedu Kumanni IV, also used the occasion to make an urgent appeal to the government and relevant agencies.
“Our people are suffering. Many have lost their homes and have no place to sleep. We urgently need help from NADMO, ECG, and other stakeholders to restore power, provide relief supplies, and assist in rebuilding homes and schools,” he pleaded.
The rainstorm’s impact has been severe, with families left without access to basic necessities such as food, water, and electricity. Business activities have also been disrupted, worsening the economic hardship in the area.
Hope for Swift Government and Stakeholder Response
Hon. Yeboah’s visit has been a source of encouragement to the affected residents, who expressed gratitude for his concern and intervention. Many believe his efforts will accelerate the process of bringing much-needed relief to the community.
Meanwhile, NADMO officials have begun assessing the damage to facilitate relief efforts. The affected residents remain hopeful that the government and other stakeholders will heed their calls for assistance and take immediate action to alleviate their suffering.
