Concerned Youth of Sekyere Afram plains are calling on the members of the vetting committee to kindly consider the directives from the national Secretariat of NDC to remove the constituency chairman, Mr Abubakar Issaka from the prospective MMDCES nominees list to be shortlisted to Accra.
According to them, the directives issued by the national Secretariat signed by Mr Fiifi Quartey has it that, in the selection of of MMDCEs, nominees should not be selected from the same town or area as the member of parliament hail from to ensure balanced representation.
The group opinied that, in the Sekyere Afram plains constituency, a unique situation has risen which has tendency to oppose the party’s directives.
According to them, both member of parliament for Sekyere Afram plains constituency, Hajia Nasira Afrah Gyekye and their current constituency chairman, Mr Abubakar Issaka who is also candidate vying for the DCE position hail from the same town called Samso and belongs to the same tribe and share the Muslim faith.
They said, information available to them maintain that, despite the directives given by the party leadership, the MP is actively pushing for this candidate to be selected from the aspirants as DCE and this has led to the growing concerns among constituents about fairness, inclusiveness and adherence to party principles.
The group suggested that, since the creation of the district, people of Anyinofi enclave have been denied from political leadership in government and this is very important movement for the leadership of the pathe to choose someone from Anyinofi enclave.
The communication director for the group, Osagyefo Akwasi Yeboah Prince during their engagement with the media believes that, Mr Owusu Mensah Charles among the eight MMDCES nominees who hail from Anyinofi enclave should be considered as the next district chief executive for Sekyere Afram plains to help bring fairness and inclusiveness.
He said, this will affirm the national chairman, Mr Aseidu Nketiah’s promise made to the people of Anyinofi enclave during his campaign visit to the community.
