Amansie South District Assembly Commissions 3-Unit Classroom Block for Watreso D/A Basic School

The Amansie South District Assembly has taken a significant step towards improving educational infrastructure by commissioning a newly constructed 3-unit classroom block for Watreso D/A Basic School. This initiative, funded by the Stool Lands Administration, is aimed at enhancing access to quality education for children in Watreso and surrounding communities.

The commissioning ceremony, held at the school premises, was led by the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Amansie South, Hon. Clement Opoku Gyamfi, who reiterated the Assembly’s dedication to creating conducive learning environments for students across the district. The project is part of a broader strategy by the district to tackle the challenges of overcrowded classrooms, particularly in basic schools.

In his address, Hon. Gyamfi expressed gratitude to the Stool Lands Administration for their financial support, which made the construction of the classroom block possible. He highlighted the importance of the new facility, particularly for the kindergarten pupils, and urged the community to maintain it well for future generations.

“This 3-unit classroom block will provide a safe and conducive learning environment for the children of Watreso. It is a critical step in promoting quality education in this area. I encourage the teachers, students, and the entire community to take good care of this facility, so it serves its purpose for many years,” Hon. Gyamfi said.

He further emphasized that the district assembly is committed to improving educational infrastructure across the district, calling on stakeholders to continue their support to ensure sustainable development in education.

The event was graced by the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Manso Adubia Constituency, Hon. Yaw Frimpong Addo, who also serves as the Deputy Minister for Food and Agriculture. In his speech, Hon. Frimpong Addo lauded the Assembly’s efforts in addressing educational challenges in the area. He pledged to support future development projects aimed at enhancing education and the overall well-being of the constituency.

Hon. Frimpong Addo also turned the community’s attention to the issue of security, pledging to lobby for additional police personnel and streetlights to improve safety at night.

“As this community continues to grow, security must be a priority. I will work hard to ensure that more police officers are posted to this area and that streetlights are installed to provide better visibility and safety at night,” he stated.

The Assembly Member for the Watreso Electoral Area, Hon. Kofi Mensah, expressed his gratitude on behalf of the community. He praised the District Assembly for its commitment to addressing the educational needs of Watreso and recognized the positive impact the new classroom block would have on the children’s learning experiences.

“We are immensely grateful for this project, which will go a long way in improving the learning conditions for our children. I would also like to appeal for the extension of electricity to newly developed parts of our community, which will boost local businesses and drive economic growth,” Hon. Mensah remarked.

As part of his support for the community, Hon. Clement Opoku Gyamfi donated streetlight bulbs to Hon. Mensah to enhance lighting within the electoral area.

The new classroom block is expected to ease the pressure on existing school facilities and accommodate the increasing number of students at the Watreso D/A Basic School. It aligns with the district’s larger objective of ensuring all schools in the area have the requisite infrastructure to deliver quality education.

Community members are hopeful that more developmental projects will follow the commissioning of the classroom block, as Watreso continues to prioritize education and overall community development.
