The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has threatened legal action against Frederick Frank Dankwah, Deputy Secretary of the Old Tafo New Patriotic Party (NPP), following allegations of fabricated claims against their parliamentary candidate, Lawyer Sahmudeen Mohammed Kamil. The NDC’s move comes in response to recent statements made by Dankwah on Boss Fm political show , accusing Kamil of misleading voters.
Dankwah alleged that Kamil falsely claimed Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the NPP’s Flagbearer, endorsed his candidacy solely based on their shared Muslim faith. According to Dankwah, Kamil suggested that this religious affiliation would enable him to work more effectively with Bawumia and urged voters to support him for this reason.
Abdul Mujeeb Rahmann, the NDC Communication Officer, has condemned these accusations as “fabricated and malicious.” Rahmann asserts that the allegations are a deliberate attempt to damage Kamil’s reputation and mislead the electorate.
In response, the NDC has demanded that Dankwah issue a formal retraction and apology within one week. Rahmann warned that if Dankwah does not comply, the NDC will pursue legal action to address the spread of what they term harmful misinformation and defamation. The NDC is preparing to take the necessary steps to protect their candidate and uphold the integrity of the electoral process.
