The MTN Ghana through Mr. Paul Asabre Pinamang (Oduefour Nana Asabre) has donated fifteen computers and accessories to Abuom community schools in the Asunafo South District of the Ahafo region to assist the teacher’s and pupils to have convenient lessons in ICT.
The gesture is part of Nana Asabre’s vision to support education in Asunafo South District especially at it rural areas.
“Most of schools in my Asunafo South District only learn ICT on board without seeing the real computer and it accessories.”
“The saddest part is that these same pupils write same exams with those who do practical in the cities and advanced schools.”
Nana Asabre revealed his motivation for the request.
According to him, the decision is to enhance ICT practical in schools within Asunafo south District.
“We receive the request to provide computers for pupils in this community some time ago and initiated processes to grant it.” Madam Adwoa Baah Obeng, Senior Manager, Branch Network service revealed their readiness to assist Nana Asabre when he sent the request.
According to her, since MTN Ghana didn’t have budget immediately available, the IT department was tasked to have some fairly new computers to enable the children have opportunity to have ICT lessons and to experience the use of computers to meet Nana Asabre’s vision.
Madam Adwoa Baah Obeng hails the IT team for giving out the computers.
She said innovation is not only creating something new but also need recreating what you have to achieve and excellence results.
“The request falls in line with MTN’s agenda of becoming a digital company by 2023. Our communities which form our customer base cannot be left out in our bid to achieve this agenda.”
“Furthermore the COVID 19 has re-echo the critical need for students to be computer literate, our children no matter where they leave must learn to get through smarter, digital and more convenient ways.”
“These fifteen computers would serve a good purpose for the pupils who are the future leaders of this nation.” Madam Adwoa Baah Obeng recounted.
She disclosed that MTN has supported education in several other ways including 87 major education projects since 1996.
Abuomhene Nana Amoako Gyampa thanked Nana Asabre for his selfless leadership in the district.
“Asunafo South District needs person like Nana Asabre to represent the president of the Republic of Ghana to lead the District as District Chief Executive (DCE).
I want to take this opputinity to add my voice to the call of Asunafo South NPP Party and it entire citizen to call on Nana Addo to bring Nana Asabra as DCE in our District.” Nana Amoako made a passionate appeal.
He also thanked MTN Ghana for the good done Abuom community through the request of Nana Asabre.
“We will take care of these computers and use for it ultimate course.”

Apinkrahene Kyeame Oduefour Nana Asabre who is known in private life as (Paul Asabre Pinamang) is a season Jounalist working with Oyerepa TV/FM in kumasi.
He has won several awards in the media industry due to his excellent presentation on air and teaches at KSTS.
He contested Asunafo South NPP MP primaries in 2015 and lost to Hon. George Yaw Boakye (Now Ahafo Regional Minister) by taking the 3rd position out of the five contestants.
He supported his NPP party to take power from NDC in 2016.
Oduefour Nana Asabre who was poised to contest the internal elections and was optimistic to win hands down in 2019 Asunafo South NPP MP primaries pulls out from the raise for the interest of NPP Party.
His contributions to the NPP party Victory in 2020 is incomparable.
In early this year, he donated 1000 crates of egg to Kukuom Agric SHS, Sankore SHS and Kwapong Nursing Training College in Asunafo south District of the Ahafo Region.
The cost of the items presented worth over twenty five thousand Ghana cedis (25, 000.00) and few months later MTN Ghana has donated fifteen computers to Abuom community through his request.
Schools to benefit from this computers include Abuom R/C School, Abuom D /A school, Abuom Pentecost Preparatory School and other schools in communities near Abuom.
In attendance were Traditional authorities and entire residents in Abuom, MTN delegations include Mrs. Charity Darko, Head of Cooperate Affairs MTN Northern Business District.
