We will blacklist communities whose residents attack us – Fire Service personnel threaten

The Ghana Fire Service has threatened to blacklist communities that attack them during operation.

The Ashanti Regional PRO, DO3 Peter Addai, made the statement during an interview with Kofi Asante Ennin on GhanAkoma.

“We will be forced to blacklist any community whose residents attack our men during an operation,” he said.

Peter Addai was reacting to the treatment meted out to his colleagues who were dispatched to attend to a fire incident which occurred at the racecourse market on Monday March 11, which gutted over one hundred shops.

Some people believe to be inhabitants of the market pelted the fire fighters with stones because, they claim the officers delayed in responding to their distress call.

“We arrived at the scene just three minutes after we received the report. We arrived at the fire scene and began fighting the fire only for some people to start pelting us with stones. They told us to stop fighting the fire and allow it to spread to other shops because their shops have been torched, but we felt that was wrong and they started attacking us,” he alleged.

He also claimed that some people at the racecourse market also took advantage of the situation.

“There were some people who were also on a looting spree. When our men attempted to stop them, they pounced on them, one of our men sustained injury. We quickly called the Police and five people were arrested,” he reported
