The attention of the Atwima Nwabiagya Municipal Assembly has been drawn with grave concern to an unsubstantiated claim by one Bernard Amofa Juantoah to be the owner of the Adankwame Community Mining Scheme at Adankwame in the Municipality.
The Five Hundred (500) acre land project has been classified under the Community Mining Scheme. The project has been duly registered and approved by the appropriate state agencies yet no available document shows that Mr. Amofa Juantoah has any link to the Community Mining Scheme.
The scheme that was duly inaugurated by the Deputy Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, on Thursday, 30th June, 2022 was exclusively engineered by the Atwima Nwabiagya Municipal Assembly with no hand of Mr. Amofa Juantoah neither as one of the company’s Directors nor a shareholder who is purporting to be the owner of the Scheme.
In the light of the above, we therefore find it difficult to comprehend why he would mischievously visit the ground during the launching, take pictures and post them on social media to claim ownership of the project.
According to him, and the Facebook publication we have seen, the said Amofa Juantoah, who had made a promise to some people in his constituency during the recent elections had claimed to have fulfilled his promise by the operations of our community mine. This is completely false. To be frank, his presence was not noticed at the launch but the pictures proved that he was around.
After talking to the chiefs and opinion leaders in the community, we are all at a loss as to why and how he came there, as this activity is intended to better the lives of the people and bring development to the community and not for the selfish political gains of any individual.
Looking at the pictures, it has become obvious that he came there for a photo opportunity for propaganda purposes because none of those in charge of the operations at the mine knew him nor had made contacts with him before.
We therefore urge the public to treat the action of Mr. Juantoah as a propaganda tool and treat it with the contempt that it deserves.
Thank You.
HON. MICHAEL AMOAH AWUKU.
MUNICIPAL CHIEF EXECUTIVE.
