Atwima Nwabiagya South NDC Grassroots and Branch Executives Calls on President Mahama to Act on MCE Misconduct Allegations

The grassroots and branch executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Atwima Nwabiagya South have formally appealed to His Excellency, President John Dramani Mahama, the National Chairman, party executives, and other relevant authorities to urgently act on concerns surrounding the conduct of the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Wisdom Osei Boamah.
In a statement made available to the media, the party executives expressed deep concern over allegations that, if true, threaten the integrity of the constituency, undermine party principles, and contradict the “Reset Ghana” agenda championed by the President.

Among the pressing issues highlighted are reports of the MCE’s alleged involvement in illegal mining activities within forest reserves and water bodies in Nkontire. It is reported that an individual, Mr. Adams, was introduced to carry out mining operations, despite opposition from the local NDC coordinator, Hon. Sumiala. Following his objection, Mr. Sumiala reportedly received threats linked to the MCE, forcing him to leave the community temporarily for his safety.
Party members also allege that attempts to engage the MCE on these matters were met with hostility. Some grassroots members claim they were insulted and accused of supporting opposition parties, with statements suggesting they “came from the NPP” and may return there if they needed assistance—remarks said to have caused divisions and damaged party unity.

The statement further alleges that the MCE has claimed personal connections to the National Chairman, Hin. Aseidu Nketia, and asserted backing from Ashanti Regional executives. Such statements, the party argues, foster fear and a perception of impunity within the constituency.

Additional allegations include the operation of a personal mining site at Adankwame, collection of monies from illegal mining operators through a taskforce under the MCE, and the acquisition of multiple vehicles reportedly funded by these proceeds. Concerns were also raised regarding land administration, with reports of attempts to sell district assembly land parcels in collaboration with certain traditional leaders.
Questions have also been raised about the authenticity of the MCE’s academic credentials. The executives urged the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) and relevant academic institutions to investigate and clarify these claims to safeguard public trust.
The NDC grassroots and branch executives emphasized that their appeal is not a judgment but a call for impartial investigation, transparency, and accountability to protect the integrity of the party, uphold the reputation of the President-in-waiting, and ensure development within the constituency. They have requested that these concerns be addressed within two weeks.
