The Ashanti Regional health directorate has targeted to vaccinate 500,000 residents in the region as the country begins Covid-19 vaccination month exercise.
The government through Ghana Health Service has declared December as Covid-19 vaccination month to reach out all citizens to see to it that 20 million Ghanaians aimed by the president is achieved.
The Ashanti Regional health director Dr Emmanuel Tenkorang during a media lunch of Ashanti Covid-19 vaccination month on Monday December 6, 2021 said, the exercise will protect citizens from the Omicron variant which is the fourth wave of the pandemic.
He stated that various kinds of the vaccine are at their disposable, hence, residents should reject conspiracy theories and other misconception about the vaccine and visit various vaccination centers in their numbers for the jab.
Dr Tenkorang indicated that the health directorate will soon begin intensive campaign, house to house visit, outreach and among others as part of strategies to get more than 500,000 population in the region to be vaccinated at the end of the month.
Adding that, the directorate is targeting schools, churches, mosques, keep fit clubs and other social gathering to immunise residents in the exercise.
Dr Emmanuel Tenkorang further revealed that, Covid-19 active cases in the region have been reduced to six patients, therefore, he entreated residents to keep other Covid-19 hygienic protocols in addition of the vaccination to ensure that zero case will be recorded in the region.
