Following an operation, police at Abease in the Yeji District of the Bono East region, have arrested two suspected armed robbers in connection with series of robbery incidents which have been happening in the area. The identity of the suspected criminals have not been given but a police statement says they were arrested yesterday [August 2] at separate hideouts at Damankwata village. In possession of the robbers were a locally manufactured single barrel gun, ammunition and mobile phones, suspected to belong to their numerous victims. The modus of the suspected criminals is to attack individuals, assault their victims, collect their smartphones and at gunpoint instruct them to mention their Mobile Money secret pin numbers. This way they snatch from their victims all their physical and soft money, leaving them helpless and penniless before they abscond. According to the police statement announcing their arrest, such criminals live in our communities and the Police encourage all well meaning people to help fish them out to face the full rigours of the law. Police assure informants of the strictest confidentiality.
