MTN Ghana has announced a fresh capital injection of USD 245 million this year as part of efforts to accelerate its Ambition 2025 strategy, with the Ashanti Region expected to benefit significantly from expanded network infrastructure and improved service delivery. The announcement was made at a media stakeholder forum held at the Lancaster Hotel in Kumasi, where the company reaffirmed its commitment to driving digital innovation, environmental sustainability and customer-centered growth in the region and beyond.

Speaking at the forum, MTN Ghana’s Corporate Affairs and Sustainability Officer, Adwoa Afriyie Wiafe, explained that the Ambition 2025 agenda, launched in 2021, is grounded in environmental, social and governance principles and designed to ensure that communities are not adversely impacted by the company’s operations. She noted that MTN remains focused on being ethical in its dealings, building capacity, expanding coverage, delivering quality services and developing a robust and resilient business that can stand the test of time. According to her, MTN’s activities in the Ashanti Region are being strategically aligned with broader developmental goals to support both local and national transformation.

The company’s latest investment forms part of a USD 1 billion five-year commitment to Ghana’s digital economy. Already, USD 240 million has been earmarked for network expansion in 2025, underscoring MTN’s determination to bridge digital divides while enhancing customer experience. Earlier this year, Chief Executive Officer Stephen Blewett reiterated the company’s confidence in Ghana’s economic prospects and called on the private sector to join forces in advancing the country’s digital transformation.

MTN’s strong financial performance is providing the foundation for these ambitious projects. In 2024, the company recorded a 26.3 percent year-on-year profit increase, earning GH₵5.028 billion in profit, which enables it to sustain both its operational expansion and shareholder value.

The Ashanti Region remains a critical hub for MTN’s operations, and the forum in Kumasi highlighted the company’s intention to make the region a model for digital inclusion. Media professionals who attended the event described the move as transformative, with News Editor Michael Ofosu-Afriyie noting that the investment, coupled with MTN’s environmental and social governance focus, positions the company not only as a telecom provider but also as a strategic development partner in Ghana’s broader digital journey.

By accelerating its Ambition 2025 strategy, MTN Ghana is demonstrating a clear resolve to consolidate its market leadership while serving as a catalyst for national development. With bold financial commitments, sustainable business practices and a strong focus on customer needs, the company is positioning itself to deliver a connected, inclusive and resilient digital future for Ghana, with the Ashanti Region playing a central role in that vision.
